Had a dead E string in a set of Rotosounds. They replaced it promptly.

As mentioned. Brand will impact your results. I’ve swapped Rotosounds onto a few different basses without any issues. Each blue steel set I’ve had didn’t survive a restring. GHS and SITs don't seem to mind a restring.

As tools, some tools have more sentimental value than others. Like my first one. I do have a favorite set of wrenches. A favorite hammer or Hamer. Some I could never sell. Some I don't sell because I don't have a better tool to replace it with.
