When I play I like to anchor my thumb to the string lower than the one I'm plucking. This makes playing the E string more difficult than the other 3. Now I'm thinking of getting a 5 string just to have a string to anchor my thumb to when I'm playing the E string. Anyone here do this?

I have this problem where I pluck the higher strings (E and even moreso G) closer to the bridge than the lower strings. It happens 'naturally' for me and it's annoying. Any recommendations for fixing this?
