Basses that don't lose sound when playing on bridge pickup

I've been playing bass for almost two years. I play an Ibanez like this one. https://www.guitarcenter.com/Ibanez/GSR200-4-String-Bass-Black-1275776901322.gc
I almost exclusively anchor my thumb to the pickup closer to the neck. I'd like to start using the pickup closer to the bridge, but when I play on it it's so much quieter than when I anchor my thumb to the neck pickup. Are there any basses where you can get that change in tone by switching to the bridge pickup without it also sounding quieter?

Pickup height is adjustable and that can be used to balance the volume of them in relation to one another. Raise the bridge pickup closer to the strings, or lower the neck pickup further from them, to try to get approximately equal volumes.

Closer to the bridge, the strings vibrate less so it's naturally quieter. Raising your bridge pickup and lowering the neck pickup will help, but perhaps an MM/J pickup config is something you should consider.

The bridge pickup on your bass is a single coil, the neck pickup is a split coil humbucker. I have a GSR190 with a similar PJ set up, with the stock pickups, as mentioned by Reed2000 above, you can always raise the bridge pickup and lower the neck split coil but also GIO model pickups, in particular that single coil is pretty unbalanced in terms of power to begin with. You can get a better single coil pickup or get a bass with similar neck and bridge pickups.
The two basses in my user pic are recent purchases and are pretty balanced neck and bridge, a Traben John Moyer and a G&L Tribute M2000.
The Traben's pretty nifty because there's a five way switch to choose which coils you want to use on both pickups, gives me quite a variety. What's nifty about it is that the volume is pretty consistent with each option even though each sound is pretty different.


As you can see in this video of someone playing on a Traben Chaos (same pickups and preamp, control as on my John Moyer), the volume remains consistent when flipping the switch. he doesn't touch the volume knob at all or even the EQ knobs for that matter, just switching the coils. The final switch selection is for both coils on in the bridge pickup, a slight volume drop but that's due to the kind of sound you get on a pickup at that location. I know it's all slapping on the video lol, but good way of listening to the volume consistency. Most basses that have similar neck and bridge pickups, should also be similarly balanced or close to it in terms of output.

I love Corvette $$ Bridge Pup. But most basses Pickups should be close in output.
