I never thought about that. At the end of the day, the FOH can definitely "over squash."

I have found the Empress keeps things even as well. Makes a huge-sounding bass sound even bigger . . . .

Do most of you use a compressor when playing live, or do you let the people running the board do whatever they're going to do to the Sadowsky sound? I have found that the Empress seems to make the bass sound larger than it does without a compressor. Thank you!

Love this! But what's worship team/praise band practice? Seriously, we're sent the music during the week, and we do only one quick run through before worship starts. We're simply expected to learn on our own and adjust on the fly during service. Phew . . .

I try to vary where I pluck a string and make adjustments to the preamp/pickup selector rather than use a pick--even when a song clearly employs a pick. Why? I have never felt connected to a bass while using a pick, whereas the instrument feels to be an extension of me when I use my fingers...
