My setup is a Peavey Mark VIII head, and a carvin 410 cabinet. When I hit the high notes while playing, it sounds like my amp is almost breathing. Its really fuzzy sounding and gross, and I don't think its because of my EQ settings. Any one have a clue why Im getting this effect???

Im just being introduced to the world of double bass, and i want to make my own "DIY" style upright, because money is tight and i think it would be cool to build my own. normal double bass tuning machines are pretty pricey, and so are strings, so i was thinking of using the FMI weed wacker pro...

has anyone made their own double bass? if so post pictures!

is there a difference in strings? ik Ernie Ball sells earthwood strings that are copper. is there a difference in sound between what the strings are made of?

yeah i was looking at the dean cutaway, just for starters. ive watched some youtube videos and they sound great, especially the fretless ones

yeah it is a little quiet unplugged but once i plugged in it wasnt too bad. but yeah id like something to goof around on around the house or even take places in my car if im bored lol.

i played an acoustic bass the other day and it was sweet. anybody else play them? and no im not talking about an upright bass.

yeah i cant afford a fender right now, and i like the sound of a squier for the price.

is there a huge difference in sound? i played my friends and it sounded pretty good. i like the 77 jazz model. its right in my price range, but i dont want it to sound crappy.

is there a significant difference between the squier jazz's and the fender jazz's? because there is a significant difference in price. and yes i know that squier is made by fender.

which do you prefer and why
