    Ampeg SVT-HD Club? The #500!!!

I’m aware of jumping the two channels, I do it on all my two channel SVTs. This fella suggested that one end of the jumper wire could remain unplugged and it was a Skunk specific trick for getting more drive. I’ve never heard of that.

    Ampeg SVT-HD Club? The #500!!!

I finally got around to getting #489 serviced. Unfortunately it needed all new power tubes and one pre amp tube. I wanted to track down a set of GE’s but I opted for some JJ’s. Got it home and plugged it into two of my 810s and it’s KILLER. I get to use it at band practice tomorrow and I’m...

    Flatback Ampeg 810 wiring

Your pic was what made me think of putting small casters on the bottom. I don’t plan on taking this one out of the basement. Actually right after I brought this cab home, my band broke up so I’m not playing with anyone right now. If I were to take an 810 out, I have a road warrior with no...

    Flatback Ampeg 810 wiring

Oh wow, I didn’t know that was an option. I had looked for a used original and figured they would be unobtainable. I’ve bought from Bruce before, I don’t know why his site didn’t show up in my searches. This is definitely a better route, thank you!

    Flatback Ampeg 810 wiring

Great! I was worried that they were unoriginal at first because the outer rings were painted blue at some point, but I guess that’ll happen over almost 5 decades lol. Looks right at home under the SVT. I think the next step is to add some small casters to the bottom to get it off the floor...

    Flatback Ampeg 810 wiring

Pulled a speaker tonight and if I’m reading it right, 35th week of 1973? That means it matches my 1973 head by pure coincidence because I bought them at different times.

    Flatback Ampeg 810 wiring

I do have a Skunkworks head, but that’s not the one I’m using currently. I’m using a 1973 SVT which just has a speaker output on the back and then an output for an extension speaker. I’m coming from an SVT-VR which also has the 2 and 4 ohm selector switch, so I am familiar with when to use it...

    Ampeg SVT-HD Club? The #500!!!

I was not planning on getting into it myself at all. I spent some time researching a tech local to me that was well versed in ampeg gear because I want it to be in good hands, I just haven’t had the time to get it in to the shop. You seem to be a wealth of knowledge on these, are you aware...

    Flatback Ampeg 810 wiring

The amp just has regular 1/4” outputs so I’d rather just install the 1/4” input jack that I bought. What was the jargon I read about insulating the jack? Ever heard anything like that before? And does it matter which wire goes to which pole on the input jack?

    Flatback Ampeg 810 wiring

So is it odd that there are only two wires sticking out of the hole where the jack would be? Maybe I’ll pull a speaker out to see if there are two more wires tucked in there and date it in the process.

    Ampeg SVT-HD Club? The #500!!!

Bump! #489 in my possession. In need of some help though, it has a terrible “warble” to the sound when it warms up. Not sure if it’s on the pre or power side. Was trying to keep it as original as possible but after reading through this thread it might not be a possibility.

    Flatback Ampeg 810 wiring

I’m working on a new to me flatback 810. At some point, the XLR jack was removed and the wires were spliced with a standard 1/4” cable. I’d like to clean things up a bit and in my searches I found a bunch of old threads with conflicting information so I figured I’d make a new thread instead of...

Two 8ohm cabs with one 4ohm cab?

Yes it does, as stated in the original post. There's a 2/4ohm switch on the back and I use it appropriately when I'm playing with cab setups.

Two 8ohm cabs with one 4ohm cab?

Perfect, thank you for explaining it in simple terms for me lol. It'll get the basement test before I bring it out to a gig!

Two 8ohm cabs with one 4ohm cab?

I've searched and read the FAQ and have found mixed information on this, so I'm here starting my own thread. Plus, my brain hurts when I even look at the equation, so I need my hand held. The amp in question is an SVT-VR, capable of handling 2ohm, which is how I use it now with two 8x10s. I...
