    GHS Super Steels

I just changed the strings on my Mustang Bass to Roundwound from Flats. Really changed the way the bass speaks and feels. I love the flats but the round wounds are pretty cool. GHS makes a medium scale set of Super Steels - I may want to check out next. Or if anyone else has any suggestions for...

    JMJ Signature Road Worn Mustang!

My feeling is that my original pickup was a tad hotter and reacted to dynamics and touch differently. The Nordstrand gets a bit closer to the P bass sound but still retains the Mustang vibe. I'm actually really digging the roundwounds on the Mustang now that they have been on for a day -...

Their standard covers are the same size as the JMJ covers. I purchased from Fat-bassTone. They were closer to me and had them in stock.

I bought the Standard NM4 with large covers. The JMJ covers fit perfect. I'm still really pleased with the pickup. I just switched from La Bella Flats to Medium Scale Ernie Ball roundwounds and still the bass shines just a different flavor than the flats.

    Fender Rumble Club

I put my Rumble rig together from 3 used pieces. A Rumble 350 head, a Rumble 2x8, and a Rumble 1x12. I really like this rig. It sounds great with just a cord between bass and amp. I'm sure I will eventually find something to try that I like like maybe a reverb pedal.

Yeah - just put the EB RW's (Medium Scale) on and it is like a different Bass. Great to have the option and sounds cool either way - RW or Flat - just different. I love the Flats but these Roundwounds should be fun.

    JMJ Signature Road Worn Mustang!

I have a set of Ernie Ball (Medium Scale) roundwounds I want to try myself. But I really like the JMJ Mustang Bass. The only other bass that has me even curious at all is the Sterling Musicman Sting Ray short scale. Only as another bass - not - to replace my Mustang.

Yes I agree the wraps are overlapping out of wack. And it does look like the actually used the wrong strings. The correct string would reduce in size as it goes around the tuning pegs especially on the Low "E". It should be even up the tuning peg. These Labella Flats on my Mustang but it is very...

    JMJ Signature Road Worn Mustang!

Thanks for the info. I have a Nordstand pickup and this came up when I was ordering. Had to clarify so my covers would fit on the Nordstand coils. Regardless of physical size, I really like the Nordstand.

    Stupid Question about strings

Both sets of La Bella Flats for my Mustang Bass and Daughters Mini Squier precision have silk wrap but different colors

    Stupid Question about strings

Why do Bass strings usually have the silk wrapping at both ends of the string?

    JMJ Signature Road Worn Mustang!

I really like the JMJ Mustang bass and actually bought it here at the Talkbass classified. I liked it immediately for the scale length and size but wanted to go slightly a different direction. I wanted to get a tad closer to the P bass sound so I ended up using La Bella flats and a Nordstand NM4...
