    The new p-bass...that isn’t a p-bass.

Agree. I tried one at Chicago Music Exchange not knowing anything about its entry-level status or greasebucket circuit. It sounded noticeably different than my American Deluxe (which seems impossible to make it sound bad). It’s tonal center sat a little higher (more midrangey) and it’s snappy...

I have no idea whats going on. SVT 410 HLF Tweeter crackles.

Yep. Had the same problem with my 410 Pro cab. Only when I hit an A note. Looked at the crossover/tweeter volume pot circuit board and sure enough, broken solder joint. Rock solid after the re-solder.

    PR-410hlf or 2 PN-115hlfs

With the 4-pro, the pair would look a little odd (I’m weird that way). How might two PN-115s sound? I’m reading things like “flat” and “lifeless”, but am not convinced. Value your opinion...

Mapleglow with the black hardware and binding is da bomb.

Anyone playing bass clean with no effects?

Used them for years. 70s: Big Muff and Ibanez Flying Pan. 80s: compressor and chorus. 90s/2000s: various multi effects: 2010: SansAmp Programmable and Rack mount with chorus, flange and delay. Current: P-Basses plugged directly into an Ampeg SVT4-Pro. Nothing wrong with the array of colors and...

Diary of a Mad Bass Collector NBD: 1951 Precision Reissue

I love the unique midrange rich tone of this 51 reissue precision bass with flats. Hated the color. Turned my school bus into a GTO.

    Jaded guy impressed

Or, maybe he bought that one and that’s why it shows out of stock?

    Jaded guy impressed

What he said. Have an American deluxe P that I would run back in the house for if it was on fire. No slam against my other basses but, sorry guys...

In the 70s we had rock gods...

Great point. Used to explore and experience the wonder of album cover art while listening and that was our multimedia experience. Muse was the last band to spark my wonderment. Chris Stapleton too. REAL talent that sparks that kind of “Wow” like back in the day. Great post!!

When did "Short Scale Shaming" become 'a thing'???

What about playing a short scale with a pick, with this speaker cabinet. Now that’s something to ponder.

Keep a vintage bass because bought cheap and is worth much more?

Hang it on the wall. Nice decor that may appreciate. And you can decide later.

    Fender American Deluxe Precision

2014 has the switch. It’s off most of the time as it sounds fantastic passive. It’s my favorite bass by far.

    Help buying first bass

You seem to want pbass tone, but are reluctant, probably because is seems so one dimensional. I was that way for years. You’re probably more of a jazz bass guy. More options to twiddle with. Try a jazz with flats. Or a p with the additional bridge pup.
