Jaded guy impressed

Congrats!
Those are looking really cool! I just got an American Pro Jazz recently, and I can attest to its quality. Great fit, finish and quality of build. All it took was to set it up to my liking, put my favorite strings on and rock it. Now I can hardly put it down when I start playing it. By far the best playing jazz I've ever had. The V-MOD pickups on it sound fantastic too! There's this smoothness to it, but they're so clear and articulate. Can't wait to try it with a band.

I've put together 3 roasties now with Warmoth parts - A J, a P and a Stingray setup on a J body, they are my top 3 basses now. With roasted necks, they sustain forever and harmonics jump off of the things, without the basses sounding overly bright. I'm completely sold on roasted.

It's quite stunning in comparison to the other finish combinations for this model, IMHO.

However, I'd probably go with natural:

Thank you so much for trying as hard as you can to rain on this guy’s thread. I see that a lot and never understand how you can possibly have so much time on your hands.

Fender has very much stepped up their game in the last 8-10 years.

When I started posting here in 2005, many of us figured Fender was fading into irrelevance, mostly on QC issues.

I don't go into guitar stores much, but when I do go in and pick up Fenders they always need truss rod and action work but the build quality feels great.

This isn't my favorite color combination, but I really enjoy the fact the bass really speaks to you. There is no finer feeling!

Awesome day and enjoy the endorphins swimming around in your bloodstream due to your new bass.
What he said. Have an American deluxe P that I would run back in the house for if it was on fire. No slam against my other basses but, sorry guys...

Fender seems to have done a super nice job on this particular construction. They had previously done a ‘58 P RI in the same construction; and the YT clips I heard were outstanding. I have little doubt that the J version could be a killer. Good on Fender.
