Hey! As it turned out, it took far less effort to "widen" the neck pocket than I imagined. Just some very patient sanding and the problem was solved. I still can't figure out why it didn't fit in the first place. Oh well...I'm glad that's over! LOL

on a whim, i bought a p bass body on ebay and decided to build my own bass. i finally got the might mite Fender lic. neck I bought, only to discover the neck is 1/8" wider than the neck pocket on the body. Upon further review, the auction for the neck claimed the neck pocket width to be 2 3/16"...
