first bass project

Can anyone recommend a neck that will fit a Squier Affinity P bass? Here's the story: I bought a P bass body on ebay. The previous owner could not tell me the make of the body, as he got it at a yard sale. Under the assumption that the body was, at least, a "standard" body, I proceeded to buy a Mighty Mite Fender Lic. maple neck. To my dismay, the neck is 1/8" too wide. However, I took the stock neck off my Squier Standard series Jazz bass and the might Mite neck fits the Jazz bass perfectly. So, my only conclusion is that the body I bought is an Affinity series, or not a Fender/Squier body at all. Make sense so far? Can anyone tell me if this is accurate? Are the neck pockets on Affinity basses smaller than on Standard series basses? Sorry for writing a novel :P Thanks in advance!!

p.s.
I tried using the search on TB and spent hours reading threads about Squier basses that were of no help. So, if this question has already been answered, please send me a link or something, don't just point out my failure. (I have posted 2 threads already, the results of which were disappointing, to say the least). If you wanna see the body, check out my myspace page, Link Removed.

perhaps you could widen the neck pocket...?

If that isn't an option and the body is in fact a Squier a standard p-bass neck should fit it,I picked up a really nice one for my p-bass copy on ebay a few months ago $50 shipped to me.Even if the bass is a copy most p-bass copies still have the same neck profile and pocket depth and all of those other technicalities. So what I recommend is to take a very precise measurement of the neck pocket and either find a neck to fit it or see if you can make the neck you bought fit.Either way happy hunting and good luck!

Let us know what you do.

Hey! As it turned out, it took far less effort to "widen" the neck pocket than I imagined. Just some very patient sanding and the problem was solved. I still can't figure out why it didn't fit in the first place. Oh well...I'm glad that's over! LOL
