    Synthesizer technique questions

Hey, Groove Doc ~ that was a wonderfully thoughtful thing for you to do - thanks!! N4860 and Pauly 4001 ~ My thanks! I do try always to defer to knowledge and experience, but in this case the mule in me is rearing its head: I am convinced that I am hearing more than strings and fingers and...

    Synthesizer technique questions

Hey, J ~ thanks for your reply! Having listened to it again after the initial responses here, it was easy to recognize those hammer-on and pull-off techniques. It was when the player was ranging up into those upper registers and the flanging (or whatever effect it is) got really pronounced...

    Synthesizer technique questions

Okay, thanks, Abner ~ that's 2 - 0 and I have to pay attention even though I still wonder. So - if it is a fretless stringed instrument, that in itself would not account for the tonal qualities (effects) that we hear. That bass sound is being manipulated in some way, either at its origin (a...

Interesting... Much appreciation for your reply, but I'm wondering if you'd think the same after hearing playback at higher fidelity.

    Synthesizer technique questions

Hey there! Intermediate 5-string player here - not familiar with bass synthesizers. On this old recording of Nana Mouskouri's, "Even Now", there is what I believe to be a synthesized bass line from what must have been the earliest years of the technology. What I hear suggests to me that it is...

Seeking replacement dome tweeter for Ampeg S-48 speaker column

Thanks, Beans! (Don't know that I've ever had beans on toast, but it doesn't sound all bad!) After removing the grille of the ailing cabinet, what turns out to be the problem is missing tweeters, not defective ones. Your suggestion is a good one, except that the tweeters in the cabinet that...

Seeking replacement dome tweeter for Ampeg S-48 speaker column

Many thanks for looking here! As it turned out, when I removed the grille on the ailing speaker cabinet, the need was for TWO dome tweeter replacements. I have since arranged to get a pair sent by an eBay seller. Again, thanks, and wish me luck!

Seeking replacement dome tweeter for Ampeg S-48 speaker column

Rick, you are a prince among men, sir! It is really good of you to respond and offer - but I just moments ago sent payment to an eBay vendor for exactly what I was looking for! I will see what I can do to take down my post here on TalkBass now. Much appreciation here!

Seeking replacement dome tweeter for Ampeg S-48 speaker column

I didn't either until I saw them posted on our local Craigslist - and instantly got the 'wants' for them - even though I'm already well fixed for P.A. gear! According to the seller, all 8 of the speakers and 3 out of 4 of the tweeters are working just fine. When he demo'd with his amp, my ear...

Seeking replacement dome tweeter for Ampeg S-48 speaker column

I understand that this may be misplaced, but I am grasping at straws. The Ampeg schematic indicates that the dome tweeter is a Magnavox #580203-1. Ampeg says that they no longer stock the part. Thanks for looking!
