Set aside combo amps for a moment. Regarding amps and speakers - Let me get this straight; I plug my bass into a head (an amp?) which is has one or more cabs (speakers) attached to it? Which means, at home I can attach a small practice speaker, and for a concert I can attach a bigger speaker...

The band is not amplified. They are plenty loud and I want to make sure I'm not drowned out. They never had an EBG before and no one there can tell me what's needed. This is a concert band, not an orchestra. (Like a college marching band without the marching.) I'm the only stringed instrument.
