I play a SR600E looks like yours has the same pickups which are passive and single coil. I don't know of any music genre where your bass wouldn't work. Sounds like you want a Fender so go get it, you can always sell it later and get back to your Ibanez.

I just got one this week. We rehearsed last night and it was great. Sound was spot on, no noises, played and felt great. So far so good, I hope it holds up over time.

This story reminds me how wise my son's football coach is. He told all of us parents in the annual preseason meeting that on time is late. At first we thought it was crazy coach talk but later realized if something is important you don't plan to show up at the last moment. You get there early.

Does the satin finish 2014 sound different than your supreme? I had a 2014 special that I sold a while back. I picked up a 2012 standard since. It has a little brighter sound. Honestly, I think the special sounded better. I should have kept the special.

Recently traded or sold all my basses and went with one. My goal is to improve my playing. One neck length, one neck width, one set of controls, etc... Am I the only one thinking this way?

No way. I played one of these for several years. Hated it. Too heavy. Hard to play. Average tone at best. I was just too poor at the time to get something better. IMO this is one of the most over rated basses.

Love my American Jazz wouldn't trade it for 2 Marcus Miller's.
