    Considering downsizing to a P

Do it. Simple, effective instrument. 2 knobs. No battery. Just straight and simple. Love my P.

“Bars and restaurants need to close...”

I have a day job. I'm lucky enough to be working from home - request from my employer. I got a gig in 2 weeks that I'm fully expecting to get cancelled. And it makes sense. Avoid large crowds. This is going to hurt global economy badly. Bars, theatres, gyms, they all have to shut down, and it...

I found an Ampeg 810 on the curb. Now what?

Oh I don't leave gear even in fancy venues. But yeah, that area isn't the prettiest. Also, another scary alley is the one in the back of La P'tite Grenouille. You lift EVERYTHING in that alley, and wash your shoes after.

I found an Ampeg 810 on the curb. Now what?

Ah. Makes sense. I'm curious if it was backline or it actually belonged to a musician playing the Metropolis (MTelus).

Requesting the Sound Guy turn you up in the PAs - OK?

The sound guy ain't your enemy. He is not there to screw you or your band. But he is human, with a different approach than yours, than everybody else. What sounds good to him might not please the guy beside him. And we all have bad days at work, too. He ain't a friend, but he ain't no enemy...

Requesting the Sound Guy turn you up in the PAs - OK?

Trust me, folks are not stupid. Audience can tell when the sound guy is way off and they won't blame the band. At 50 yrs old, while not being a pro artist, I've played many, many gigs and a bad sound guy happens once in a while. 90% of the time I dealt with pros and had ZERO problem with them...

Requesting the Sound Guy turn you up in the PAs - OK?

That's exactly how it should be done. Ask the guy what he needs. You don't want to become friend with the dude but in cahoots enough to establish a business relationship. Yes, it's a team effort.

Requesting the Sound Guy turn you up in the PAs - OK?

FOH ain't my business. All I want is to sound good to my band, on stage, and that's what I'm getting paid for. The sound guy gets paid for doing it's thing and I'm not gonna tell him what he needs to do. On some gigs, sound guys were lame but on most gigs, they were pros and made everybody sound...

I think I am narrowing it down..

3 basses here, all stock. 2 are fivers, one has to/will go. My P bass (4) is a lifer, it's not going anywhere. The others are G&L Tribute L2500 and a Lakland DJ5. While I absolutely love the neck on the Lakland, it's gonna leave. I'm simply not a jazz guy, can't fault the bass but it's not for...

    Self-quarantine plans

With all the madness going on, I'd take 2 great weeks off, out in the woods, no tv, internet, radio, nothing. Shacked up in the deep forest, chopping my wood and burning it to keep warm. No electricity. Alone far from this turbulence.

Would you demand $100 to rehearse and $250 for playing one set as a pickup player??

True. It was pre-internet, pre-Facebook, pre-social media. At that time it made sense. A lot of well known musicians today did that in a pre-internet era. But today, in this era, I'm not impressed with Craigslist hotshots. I'm far from being a top - hotshot - pro player, and I have more work...

That's cute. Fees are ok I suppose. As someone said: if he was that good, he wouldn't do Craigslist.

How do I calm my nerves?

Hookers and blow. Oh wait, it's Church. Might not be a good idea. All jokes aside, being nervous is a good thing, it means you care. We all have our ways to manage that "stress". Me, I embrace it, I love it when I get nervous/anxious/excited before I gig, it challenges me to go up there and...

    Unlined or Lined: Irrelevant?
