    EBS MultiComp mod

After looking into a variety of options I decided I want to mod a Multicomp for external pots. Since this thread started, there have been a number of revisions to the pedal (studio edition, blue label, ...). If I plan to mod, do any of the newer models offer any advantages? Price difference on...

Punchy, dry, punky and cheap overdrive pedal

Sounds like you want to use some eq to scoop those low mids. The rest seems not so hard to achieve with basically any distortion circuit.

    Effects ideas for chordal playing

Exactly! Love my B3 for going completely off the rails with effects. It's not part of my main tone anymore but if I try to nail a specific sound is still somewhere in there.

    Flats That Behave Like Rounds

Another shout out to pyramid. They came on a used bass and after I disliked other flats for their tension and I moved to pressurewounds, they made me reappreciate flats.

Tools for playing along with a Standard's melody?

Oh wow, this is great and right up my alley!

K&M 17620 double guitar stand: any users?

I like mine! It's reasonably stable with just one bass, but in this case is advise to align it so one of the three legs points out under the bass. The bass holding fork thingies don't collapse, so it's not super compact when folded. It's very well made and should last a long time!

Tools for playing along with a Standard's melody?

To weigh in on why I'm interested in melodies: I really would like to hear the lead voice while I practice accompanying it. Just sitting down walking over some changes with a metronome and maybe a backing track just seems too "abstract" if you know what I mean. I'm not advanced enough to sit...

Tools for playing along with a Standard's melody?

Hey guys, there are plenty of tools like iRealPro that help soloists by creating a backing track. However, I personally find it not very helpful to practice a standard (I'm just starting out!) without trying to follow the melody in my head. There are several approaches I came up with to do it...

    Piezo bridge and phase

A buffered (active) blend is required to deal with the impedance mismatch between magnetic and piezo pickups. Otherwise you won't get much sound out of the piezo beyond clank. Or so I've heard, didn't try to mix them unblended. Try to go for a blend with a phase switch to avoid the trouble I'm...

    Yamaha RBX170 Owners

The 170 comes with really poopy tuners in with 12mm shaft diameter. Usually there is drilling/milling necessary to mount standard 14mm Gotoh-style tuners. 270 comes with standard drilling and OK tuners. Do you have a link to the 12mm Wilkinson replacements?

    Yamaha RBX170 Owners

TBH I don't think the Delanos suit the bass well. They have a very hi-fi feel to them. The RBX is naturally weak on the E-string IME, and the Delanos don't help at all. Best upgrade are strings as you said, you have a myriad of ways to fine tune the sound to your liking. Currently a big fan of...

The Strat switch is a nice touch!

“To route” or “not to route”... that is the question ....

Route for a second reverse P pickup and enjoy a more balanced sound!

    1U Power Amp For Bass

Hey, you're right! Sorry, I had always thought those were 1U.
