Keyboard player will not play any holiday or Christmas party

Actually, no you didn't. You exactly said : ...one of the tenets of JW religion is a literal interpretation of the Bible where Jesus says "do not celebrate my birth" Again, I am not arguing any beliefs. I am arguing simple facts. I don't like arguing beliefs about anything, particularly...

Basses fitting for players with small hands?

Actually, bass clarinet has always been one of my favorites. I played it in high school concert band. One day, when I have the money to spare, I'll get one.

Basses fitting for players with small hands?

+1 I am a normal-sized guy with short stubby fingers (ideally unsuited for any stringed instrument, really). My wife has longer fingers than me. But, I play 34" bass, 25.5" guitar, 24.75" guitar, 17" ukulele, 15" ukulele, and 13" ukulele. Certainly, there are some adjustments to be made. I can...

    Truss Rod.....I don't get this.....

I have cracked the neck on a cheap acoustic guitar just by over tightening the truss rod. Granted, it was a REALLY cheap guitar, but the OP is talking about a pretty cheap bass.

Keyboard player will not play any holiday or Christmas party

Absolutely nothing to do with belief. You put "do not celebrate my birth" in quotes and said Jesus says it in the bible. That is a simple matter of fact, or not. I asked for chapter and verse where that could be found, because I don't think it can be found. I have known some JW's, and I am...

I would really like to know the chapter and verse where I could find that.

Eddie Van Halen's short scale Gibson mando-bass

A bit earlier than 1929. Started in late 19th century and had a huge boost in 1915: From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Music_of_Hawaii "A Broadway show called Bird of Paradise introduced Hawaiian music to many Americans in 1912 and the Invalid Link Removed in San Francisco followed in 1915; one...

Eddie Van Halen's short scale Gibson mando-bass

I bought an issue at an airport once for flight reading. There was an article about a 'collector' that you were supposed to be impressed by. The guy was some kind of doctor who was buying crazy overpriced reissues. Unbelievable.

    Oh how I love Craigslist!!!

Just curious, I'm kinda new (or rather, returning late in the game) to playing with others. If not Craigslist, where else do you find opportunities or people?

Effect to get bowed Cello tone?

+0.5 for ebow. I have used one on guitar a bit. On a guitar G string, it can sound exactly like a cello. On a guitar B or E (E is a little trickier to hold it correctly), it sounds a lot like a violin. With some other effects (octave pedal, I think), it is what Big Country used to get a very...

Does anyone else hate this forum?

For me, the biggest problem is time spent (wasted?) on this and other music forums. If I could actually play half as good as what I know about music (or sadly, moreso about gear), man I'd be pretty awesome. Limited funds in recent years has kept GAS under control, although my family might disagree.
