    G&L Club Part 7

Greetings! Continuing on the topic of pickguards, does anyone have one on their L2000? And a design with measures they could share? I love my L2000 (even though it has been sitting back for a bit since I've been messing with a Grabber and an ATK) and I doubt I'll ever sell it, so, why not make...

Yup, as said before it is quite a hot pickup and if you run it all in humbucker mode is woofy as all hell, you can run it in single coil but I feel it loses quite a lot of the punch. Good news is that raising the E side a sensible ammount seemed to fix the problem, last steps of wrangling this...

What's the pickup you used for your Grabber build? I'm kind of tempted to try and fit a P-bass pickup into this bass to see if maybe a bass centered pickup would fare better than the Bill Lawrence, even though I really like the Bill Lawrence, maybe it just doesn't do that well for what I'm going...

Sounds great, the Hi-mass bridge (although raising the action substantially) made the bass super resonant and even loud acoustically!

Hi! Not a 100% original Grabber (Actually pretty much 80% of this bass is non original) but a Melody 6600 which is basically an Italian version/copy of the grabber with a moving pickup! (Which was a guitar humbucker) After basically rehauling the whole bass the only problem I have with it is the...

G&L JB 5 SADDLELOCK BRIDGE REPLACEMENT

Strings may have to do. They are DR dragon skin and while they are good I feel they lack a bit of low end punch when compared to the Rotos I usually play. Not like it has a bad sound plugged in at all, I think my Grabber may be a bit too hot and woofy when compared to the L2000's clarity and...

G&L JB 5 SADDLELOCK BRIDGE REPLACEMENT

Such as? It is true that my Grabber has more mass than my G&L but again the resonance and volume between the two is pretty much day and night, any ideas as to what it may be apart from the bridge?

G&L JB 5 SADDLELOCK BRIDGE REPLACEMENT

Reviving the thread to ask a little doubt I have. I installed a Fender Himass on my Grabber copy bass and the resonance and even output of my bass while unplugged has gone up significantly, sadly leaving my G&L L2000 sounding a bit anemic both plugged and unplugged in comparison, would...

Hmm I dont know how that would go, mind elaborating?

I figured. I liked the sound on the neck best but I think is just that the way your pickups are wired make them sound too clean for me. Hooked up to a lower k wiring and with the added use of a tone pot I think I'll get a good chunky tone. Its mostly what I'm looking for in my Grabber, I already...

Just what I was looking for then!

I ended up ordering a 6H. Which will be hooked up to an Allparts precision bass wiring harness (Dont know the value of the pots on that one, maybe 250k). The sound of the 4H seemed a bit too clean for what I'm looking with my Grabber

Gotcha. Either way I sent Becky an email asking similar stuff. Ill wait for her response and I'll snag one. Thanks for the help!

So. If I understood correctly. A pickup with more Henries would yield a "growlier" tone? Since it's more prone to distortion and has a greater pull on the string? Considering the KOhms in a 4H and a 6H are the same, a 4H should have a cleaner tone and a 6H a dirtier, growlier (though not darker)...

Damn I think you sold me on them! Yours are 4H? What are the difference between the different models? Also, you got the length and width of yours noted somewhere?
