G&L JB 5 SADDLELOCK BRIDGE REPLACEMENT

Reviving the thread to ask a little doubt I have. I installed a Fender Himass on my Grabber copy bass and the resonance and even output of my bass while unplugged has gone up significantly, sadly leaving my G&L L2000 sounding a bit anemic both plugged and unplugged in comparison, would installing a Himass in my G&L L2000 be possible?

It is possible, but you would want to fill the route in the body from the stock G&L bridge. Also the G&L Bridge is quite massive on its own. The difference you are experiencing is likely something other than the bridge.

Such as? It is true that my Grabber has more mass than my G&L but again the resonance and volume between the two is pretty much day and night, any ideas as to what it may be apart from the bridge?

Strings (type and age), materials, construction techniques/quality, setup (MFD pickups are particularly sensitive to pickup/pole height). I am a little surprised your G&L L2000 is anemic. They are usually pretty potent in series mode.

Strings may have to do. They are DR dragon skin and while they are good I feel they lack a bit of low end punch when compared to the Rotos I usually play. Not like it has a bad sound plugged in at all, I think my Grabber may be a bit too hot and woofy when compared to the L2000's clarity and that's what's tripping me XP
