Are your observations on the Tung-Sol 12AX7 based on V1, V2, or both? I'm sure it's in one of the megathreads, but which position has the greatest effect on tone?

I've been using this as my preamp/DI when playing live to FOH for years. Great for recording at home as well. I love what it does for my sound. I set my gain around 2 o'clock. I play passive P and J basses. I've never had an issue with a hot signal, but I agree with AWB's tone...

Has anyone out there tried running an Aguilar Tone Hammer pedal into the Power Amp In for a different flavor? I'm curious to hear about experiences running different preamps into the Power Amp In.

Rubber cabinet/shelf liner will solve your problem. You can buy non-adhesive liner by the roll at any Wal-Mart, Target, etc. Cut it to match the dimensions of the end of each cab. I even use it between each cab for added resistance in case of a bump. If the feet of the head fall within the...

Just wanted to report back that Aguilar repaired my pedal under warranty. Played it live at the same location where I experienced the issue and it was flawless. Aguilar did a great job handling this for me!

I've had that issue with my pedal as well. I e-mailed Aguilar about it in 2011 and they were very helpful. At the time I was convinced it was due to my setup at home. The experience I had last week made it clear to me there is an issue with my unit.
