I had a Peavey Patriot bass way back in the day that said handcrafted in the USA. I found out it meant that the design and specs were American but it was built somewhere else. Maybe crafted means built in Japan with American design, specs, and parts?

That looks just like the bass I have. I think it's the same color too.

It certainly looks midnight blue to me. But I don't know about the knobs. Look like squire knobs but I'm not sure how much knobs vary from product to product

I unscrewed the neck and it had two dates. On the base of the neck it had oct 12 2002 and on the neck it said January 24 2013. So I'm guessing it's an American neck. On the body I really couldn't make out anything other than a couple of green marks. But yeah it sure does look like a squire...

This is all useful information. I didn't realize that it was common to find fake basses. I figured that faking guitars is more lucrative. I guess I'll call the bass a frankenfender. I'll change the strings and get a new bridge and see what happens.

I'm aware that there are faked fenders out there, but if it was me, I would have tried to sell it somewhere else. I mean, the guy probably got a hundred bucks from the pawn shop for it. He probably would have made more money online. If it is a modded MIA then that's awesome. From what I can...

I'm really not a bass person. I play bass, but I am an acoustic guitar fingerpicker. I am limited in Fender bass knowledge. I tried it out, the neck feels great, and it sounds great. But was not convinced it was a genuine Fender for some reason. But for a couple hundred bucks I took a shot at it.

I bought a Fender American precision bass from the local pawn shop at a great price. Well, at least I hope it's one. It's either modded or fake. Can anyone help?
