I'm currently working on the preproduction with my group and the only Mic that I've liked so far is an SM57 which sounds good when mixed with a DI, but I was hoping someone would be able to suggest some other good mics that have worked out well when recording bass. Any good sugestions?

Rotosound bass strings are the way to go. I've tried too manny bass strings and the order that i came up with is something like. Rotosound-swing 66 GHS Boomers Fender stainless steals and i suppose DR strings but they're over priced. If you play in drop tuning deffinatly get a thicker gauge.

I personally didn't like the earnie ball coated strings, The sound I was getting out of them wasn't what I was looking for. I think you a good switch with D'Addario but I also really like fender strings depending upon the bridge you have on your fender 5 string they could work really well.
