Nikki Sixx: Isolated bass track to "Looks That Kill" (1983)

Too Fast for Love is great, especially the way the bass was mixed. They did a 180 turn on Shout and you cannot hear the bass well at all on that album. Its loud and juuuuuust on the borderline of too much bass without crossing it, for me anyway. Makes learning those songs really easy as well...

    SVT-212AV vs. GK NEO 212

I hear you with the stairs but you'll regret selling that cab someday. Sure its overkill for just about everything but even at sane volumes it still has incredible presence.

Looking for the best bass for short pinkie

You will likely have to raise your bass so your hand is approaching from under the neck. The straighter your wrist is the easier it will be. As the neck lowers and the wrist starts to bend upwards you'l lose more and more range on the pinky. I have the same problem, but I just quit trying to use...

    Playing behind your head

Crowds ,who by and large aren't musicians, generally like this sort of thing and it's fun if it fits the vibe. Theres always the Rush concert to go and be musically impressed.

    The Soundgear Club

They're practically the same basses from different factories. I've owned both, the premiums sound better to me and the 5000e I had was substantially heavier. It was quite the looker though. If the barts are your thing and the nordstrands aren't then a prestige would be the way to go. If not the...

    Ibanez GSR206 - clickclackclickclack

I play on DR steel loriders with a pick and yeah, it's noisy. Clanks, buzzes, pick noise etc...I don't care for my tone at all when I practice, it's very harsh. With the band however none of that noise is really audible and I sometimes find myself looking for more edge. You'll learn to control...

    The Soundgear Club

Ill agree, these new colors would be better served with black hardware. On the natural models I think gold still works best since it blends with the body. The gold bridge on the blue one looks particularly out of place to me. Oh well, beggars can't be choosers and at least ibanez finally decided...

Got a blue one on the way as well. Couldn't resist. I was contemplating a G&L SB for a different sound option but I know after cycling through a bunch of other very nice basses the SR is the only one that's going to get played anyway.

Finally!!! Some color in the premium line, I am tired of nothing but natural wood looks on my basses. This is going to cost me some money, the blue looks good.

    Beginning Slap Songs

It seems to be a thing. Higher Ground is not by any means easy. The slap part can be done fairly sloppily for someone who is learning and spends a bit of time practicing it but it's not as if it's beginner stuff to play well. As you say the rest of the song also shreds along at breakneck speeds...

Bob Daisley: Original bass track to "I Don't Know" (1980)

Always a treat to learn and cover the old Daisley basslines. Ultimately he will probably be the reason I put in work on finger technique. I'm primarily a pick player unless I really want that softer attack but trying to really nail this bassline requires some cheating with a pick.

    Ibanez Prestige vs Premium

Having owned both a premium and prestige at the same time I'll weigh in a vote for the premium. They're close enough to be considered exactly the same bass excepting electronics/pickups. The prestige may be ever so slightly nicer but its not enough to matter. I preferred the premium for the...

    Ibanez sr1400e vs sr1600e

I own both. No difference between them, pick the one that looks best.

Sammy Hagar on Michael Anthony: EVH never appreciated his talent

VH stayed around long enough and had enough crazy ego antics going on to somewhat tarnish their image and erase a bit of their past it seems. Its easy to forget that for a good few years they were the biggest rock band in the world and deserved the spot. I've heard MA play some good stuff...
