+1Only thing I would do is change the hardware to black...I can't stand gold hardware.

Ill agree, these new colors would be better served with black hardware. On the natural models I think gold still works best since it blends with the body. The gold bridge on the blue one looks particularly out of place to me. Oh well, beggars can't be choosers and at least ibanez finally decided all basses over 1k don't have to be brown.
Just picked up a SR5000 (not sure if this is the SM or MM ) Prestige from the late 90's. It was kept in amazing condition - cleaned her, just put on a new set of Fodera nickels and set her up. It plays like butter!! Very happy with this find....

So, I'm trying to figure if this is the SM (Saman/Walnut) from '96 or the MM (Mahogany/Walnut) from '97....does anyone know how to read the serial number?
Thanks

How would you compare the playability and tone of this bass to others in the price range? I've been wanting a used Prestige really bad but haven't heard any experiences from people who have played or owned them.
Hi from the pic its MM one..you cant miss a SM..Saman it looks like a coffee swirl cake..beautiful...missed out on one of those in 97..the SR that got away

That's unfair to show your sr 1306 like that ;-). Beautiful instrument there!
For anyone interested, here's a prototype Premium series 1305...

Those pickups are listed as Ibanez "AFR-J5 active." Active copy of the Nordstrands?
The specs read "cosmo black hardware" and the picture shows gold!? So do you think the pups in the picture are actually Nordstrands? For anyone interested, here's a prototype Premium series 1305...

I don't know how helpful these will be since I'm not that great at getting good bass pics, but here are a couple snapshots. It looks pretty much like what I expected, a deep blue that only jumps out at you in bright light. The satin finish of course makes it look a little more flat and subdued. I need to get my usual Sunbeams on this before I can record anything with it and really get a good sense of the sound (not that big on Elixirs).
