What (relatively cheap) round strings will last a long time (at least a year) on a p-bass used in the rock/punk genre?

I like chromes, but if they're not happy with broken in rounds they aren't going to be happy with chromes.

Are those the coated ones? I had a set a while ago (6+ Years) but the coating didn't hold up well to playing with a pick, have they improved that?

I use Diadarrio Stainless Rounds for my pop punk band I only play an hour-ish a day they lose their zing in the first week but settle in to a nice bright tone for a couple months. Also never broke a string and I play with a pretty heavy hand.

    3-way switch vs. blend knob

Blend is two volumes so you've got 500/4 for VBT (125) vs 500/3 VVT (167) vs 500/2 for SVT(250) the higher the resistance to ground the brighter it is with everything turned all the way up

    3-way switch vs. blend knob

You still lose brightness because of the reduced resistance to ground with three pots vs two or one.

    3-way switch vs. blend knob

I missed this the first time through, but what I'd say might be most useful for you is a 3 way switch but instead of P/Both/Jazz its Both in Parallel (normal)/ P / Both in Series. You basically trade the bridge J alone for a tone that is basically a beefier, slightly brighter P bass.

    3-way switch vs. blend knob

Thats a 50% volume 100/100 blend not a 50/50 blend, theres a couple things that can make that distinction relevant.

    3-way switch vs. blend knob

Volume blend can only do 100/ (variable) it can't do 50/50 or any other partial volume mixes. With only one tone control it doesn't really matter but with two you can get some isolation of the tones by turning down the volume of the pickups. It also has 66% the resistance to ground of two...

    3-way switch vs. blend knob

Enclosed box type toggles go bad but musical instrument switches are just as robust as a blend and less prone to noise.

    3-way switch vs. blend knob

Option 6 for me, a 4 way switch for a Series/ Parallel with a P/J (or 5 way to eliminate the volume altogether with a kill position)

What Frequency Response is Actually Needed for Low Tuning?

It's a custom with a 42" scale, also a 34" scale but that one I've already rung what I can get out of it with a keyboard amp.

Equal tension, equal feel, or graduated tension

For me the tonal variation of a balanced tension, or even heavy bottom set is a feature not a bug. It let's me go from a smooth deep tone on the verses to a bright grindy tone on the chorus and bridge even when the actual note is the same. I also tune to D standard which really exposes how...

    Gomez basses?

https://guitarsite.com/gomez-guitars/ Apparently they made Les Paul copies and Ric 4001 clones too.

    Strings for Mandocello C2C2 G2G2 D3D3 A3A3 24.75" scale length

I use a 7 string guitar set using the 7th (B) 5th (A) 4th (D) and either 3rd or 2nd (G or B) on my MandoCello Tuned Tenor guitar. For dual courses I'd use the B strings for C2 C3, Low A and high G for G2 G3, Then for D either use the D and the high E for octaves or get a single D for Unison...

Epiphone thunderbird pickups, you keep it ? why ?

Another for, live with it for a bit, adjust set-up, put new strings on and find what you don't like or if you actually like the pickups that are in it. Unless you have a specific reason to switch pickups I'd just use what's in there (admittedly that hasn't happened yet but they were all swapped...
