I have the same question as Classical Thump. Is an 8 string Conklin worth the nine thousand. Or should I try to find something a little less expensive. And If so, Who? I am completely new to the extended range and trying to find luthiers that would make an 8 string to my specs has not been easy...

Soooo, It's really just the crossover then? I been looking at just raw speakers and they are pretty much the same. So buy a cheaper p.a. cabinet and take out the crossover. Why does a bass cab cost twice what a p.a. cab cost when the p.a. has more to it? Just because it says Peavy or Fender on it?
