i would agree with the others who said that only boring bass players create boring bass lines for styles they think are boring.

there are a few extreme metal bands that don't play detuned (or only to d) and those bands have some of the most interesting/fun bass lines i have ever played, a lot of it is just playing the guitar parts but extreme metal guitar parts are fun on bass if you can keep up. i was going to say...
