Stingray vs Precision: Compare and Contrast the Tone.

Forgive me if I am misinterpreting, but what I believe you meant to say was: Using Whatever strings work for you = Bass Pretentiously thinking there is only one "true" way = Bass Guitar There, that makes more sense. You're welcome. ...And the tired Flats V. Rounds conversation is...

    Convince me to get Flats

I don't know as I can convince anyone to play flats, it is really a personal taste sort of thing. I put them on my jazz and didn't like them. I gave them a fair chance, and found I liked rounds better. Flats just felt sticky and I ended up with metal dust all over my fingers after playing on...

    Dirk Lance / Alex Katunich

I have a lot of respect for Ben's musicianship and style. Ben's an awesome guitarist, a competent drummer and he isn't anywhere near a bad bassist. That said, I think I'd like Ben better if the newer material was better overall, but IMO, Incubus' overall album quality has been flying downhill...

    Dirk Lance / Alex Katunich

I certainly have a lot of respect for Ben's musicianship and style. Ben's an awesome guitarist, a competent drummer and he isn't half bad on bass. That said, I think I'd like Ben better as a bassist if the newer material was better, but IMO, Incubus' overall album quality has been flying...

    Eden Electronics, part 2

I got an Eden 215XL Cabinet. Those are sure some Boomin' 15s, sound is surprisingly clear too, especially given that one of my cones is totally shredded. Suprisingly, it still makes sounds and works just fine. Never had a cab that resilient before....

Stories of Gear loss to insane life events?

Ah, an all-together too common cause of fires. Silly kids and their negligence with smoking materials. :scowl: My condolences for your casualties. It is good to hear you found a suitable replacement. I thought about getting a MIA P-bass as a replacement, but my '62 had a certain character...

 Wow...Talk about uncool....literally. I sure hope the barn fire was unintentional on their part...

Stories of Gear loss to insane life events?

My condolences on your losses. If you had felt the same level of connection with your T-bird as I had with my P-Bass, it is truly heartbreaking to be without. It really is like losing a part of yourself. Hopefully you'll find one again. I really wish you luck. It was 100% luck that I...

Stories of Gear loss to insane life events?

I considered putting this under the new member/introduction forum, since I've been a member for less than a year, and I'm pretty unknown here. I'm from the mid-west, so cultural isolation and being unknown is par for the course. I've been reading the helpful posts on this site for years, not...

Do your pets have an ear for music?

Not sure if the cat actually enjoys music, but he certainly loves messing with the metronome when I practice, and oddly enough manages to randomly change time signatures....That cat is a surprisingly good bass teacher.

    Fenders?

Provided you can remove one from your car, and manage somehow to string a set of rounds (or flats, whatever you prefer) A fender would be an alright bass I guess. Might be a tad on the heavy side, what make is your car?

The Lost Art of Customer Service

I've found that Eden has absolutely atrocious customer service these days...completely unhelpful. If you've got a problem, they seem to always refer a person to go ahead and cry into their huge vault of money... It is kind of a shame, they've always looked like a way cooler company than they...

    Too much information now.

Forget GAS alone (a whole new level of crazy for the bass world for sure), anyone else remember the pre-internet days when all that was really available for actually learning to play was Bass Player magazine, other bassists, maybe books, and a teacher if you were lucky? Now, it has even been...

How to start an original band

I hate to say the same thing as everyone else, but...17? late in the game?!, not even close. I am 32 and started an original band last year. Being a musician, means that music is always a part of your life, no matter how old you are. I started playing bass at 10, and drums at 30, and I can tell...

GK 700rb Head Issues - my head has brain damage apparently

I agree with you there. I'd much rather have it installed by someone who has the proper tools and experience, rather than doing it myself. I am sure I could, but would rather not take the chance of wrecking it. Now..to find a good shop...
