I've owned one for a while. Picked it up for 250€ used. Pretty lightweight and very comfortable and thin neck. I was however very disappointed with the Bartollini pups, they sounded super bland to me. I sold the SR500 and upgraded to an SR600E with Nordstrand pups. Sounds so much better to me...

I'm thinking of ordering that blue sonic p bass. Eventually I will turn it into something like this with a red pickguard and white Dimarzio Split P pup :D: Bit worried about the neck though. Is it really that chunky? How does it compare to Fender modern C shape necks or Sire neck profiles?

Yeah, the pickups are lower in output than what you are used to. I also own a Sire P7 which uses the same pickups and it's the same there. The P7 has an active pre amp though, which negates the output issue.

Sire Vs and Ps are great, but their neck profile feels rather chunky in comparism to something like Ibanez SR. Also consider Cort. Cort GB series has slim and very comfortable necks. Artisan series necks are very slim too.

I'm working this body I will turn into a 32" medium scaler eventually. Thing is, the body has a custom shape, so I can't swap pickguards that easily. Once I decide on a colour and do all the cutting, the pickguard will stay. Any ideas on the colour? The neck is going to be a maple fretboard...

Cort Artisan series features a thin C profile on their necks too. I once owned a Cort B4 and its neck was about as thin as any Ibanez Soundgear.

Not what you asked, but have you considered a Sire V7 or V5? Those are great value if you're on a budget.

Yeah, the bridge was misaligned. I asked for a refund in the end because the bass had other issues that prevented me from modding it the way I had planned.

Yes, it's the 34" Jay Turser 400C. Bought it mostly for the alder body, which at the price point of 150€ is quite something.

A couple of weeks ago I bought a cheap ass Jay Turser bass which I intended to use in a mod project. Just look at that, the strings do not line up with with the pole pieces at all. The bass sounds fine despite the misalignment. So you definitely should be ok.
