‘Fame’ brand basses?

I've been in the market for a black, alder, precision bass body for a project bass. I came across these Fame bodies whilst looking for a fender pbass body alternative in the uk. Has anybody used these, if so, how do they compare to a fender alder body, is the neck pocket the same?

I can't offer toooo much specific feedback on that specific thing, but... I have a Fame MM clone that is really top notch. Nothing like a real one, but still the best value bass I've probably ever owned. Bought it for 150.

Sorry for the unhelpful answer but I also considered getting those as I live in Germany. However, I could never find out if the neck pocket can fit a fender neck without being altered, if you find out, can you update this post?

And btw, that 'brand' name makes me cringe... what are these marketing guys thinking? That we're all twelve year olds?
Anyway, you could ask them if Fender necks are compatible...

I've emailed them a few times over December, haven't had any reply as of yet though, at moment this is only thing preventing me from purchasing one. I don't mind if I need to widen the neck a tad, but if it is too much of a difference from the neck I have (63.5mm), then I'll look elsewhere, as it's probably not worth the hassle.

I've built my first bass, what do you think?

The body in the link is a Fame body I ordered from Music Store Cologne. As I told you in the other thread, the neck pocket fits Fender necks just fine in terms of width and length (only needed some sanding). It is however a few mm deeper than your regular Fender neck pocket, so I struggeled with getting a low action even with the saddles all the way down. In the end I had to glue a piece of wood into the neck pocket to heighten the neck.

Tell me how thick that neck of yours is and I'll tell you if you'll run into the same problem.
