GHS Bass Boomer trouble......

I havent used Boomers in over twenty years. I recently put a set on my Rick for a show, and after a 45 minute set they sound like tapewounds!! I dont remember them going dead so fast. I have tried several set and they all die after one show. Guess its back to D'addarios........ Any thought or comments?

There are a couple of things that could be at play, but they shouldn't go dead that quickly. What set are you using, and can you PM me your address? I'll get this sorted when I'm back in the office in the morning.

Your a person that work's at GHS Strings? Do you guys have half wounds that I can put on my 6 string bass? I need a gauge of 130 or 125(Which I preferred) 105 80 65 45 30

When I used to play rounds, GHS Boomers were my favorite because they died so fast (and sounded great)...I love the dead roundwound sound.

We have our Brite Flats (groundwounds) that are easily available in a 6 string set. You can either go with this set, which is 27-49-62-84-108-129:

Or go this route, and build your own. Closest we can get for you would be 27-45-62-77-103-129, or if you prefer something a bit more balanced, I'd probably go 27-45-56-77-98-129.

The Super Steels were actually the "gateway" string for me into GHS; I was an artist endorser for many years prior to the highly esteemed position I am in now.

The Steels rock!! and are far more forgiving on the fingers than other steel sets I have tried. Quick and dirty sound clip...

I don't know why people think Boomers die faster than other brands! I have quite acidic skin so I should be murder on strings. But I've never noticed Boomers dying any faster than D'Addario or Roto NPS strings.

One show and out for me. It was so drastic that the first time it hapoened I thought I baked my head... but I have a good feeling about the Super Steels...
