i picked this up on an impulse deal
Previous to this project I've fixed a couple of problems so far but mostly wiring and only after reading a crazy amount of threads
So I'm kinda lost on what I actually bought was ?
The ownrr said its just this old guitar he had for a while found it in storage and that's it he plugged it in and it just made static and he didn't want it anymore
I clean out the internals and I had one guitar string laying around and only one pickup worked
The other would cut out
My friend said its some "lawsuit" guitar. Kinda doubt it?

Anyway, what's the direction to go with this ?
Where exactly do I get the parts and what's really necessary to get it up and running
Tuners,
Bridge?
Nut
What else do u guys think

Thanks, new to things

I really dig that bass. Why can't I ever score anything like that?

I would do as @Callused Finger suggested, except I would replace the bridge. I am not a fan of a 2 saddle bridge, and that one looks rusted to the point that its frozen. The pickups look like standard Tele guitar pickups just with a chrome cover on the bridge pickup. The tuners can be straightened out, cleaned and lubricated and will work again.

I think that is a Sears bass. A similar model was sold under the Aria name. One pickup versions seem way more common than what we have here. I've seen those sold under the Shaftesbury name. The bass also isn't a million miles away from an Ampeg 'Big Stud'.

The good (all things relative) news is that you might be able to fit any type of blade or hotrail Telecaster guitar pickup to the bass.

So last night I let it all soak in some coke.
Don't ask me if it's the right thing do to. I've just done it with other crap.
Grabbed a 4 day old lime and some salt.
progress pics.

debating whether or not to paint it over with new chrome paint, it's cracking but it's 'kinda cool'. Maybe I won't be lazy.
Anyway, was looking at ordering these parts,
I'm going to take it to a local dude to replace the nut and the frets, but im still debating it, one of the bolt on the bridge is bent, going to order somepoopie off the internet hopefully its quality, and word on this guy?
Fender/Squier 007-3882-000 Vintage Mod 2-Saddle '51 Tele P Bass Bridge
and just use, the springs and new hardware, not the plate

I would get one of these instead of that two saddle bridge. Accurate intonation and the ability to set your string spacing make it a far superior bridge to the one thats on your bass.

So, I haven't been able to find a 6 bolt plate at all. So I would just use the one it came with and order a two saddle bridge, better than nothing right?
what's your take, unless I order one and mill my own holes in it..
Maybe..

I would just drill new holes personally. The 4 saddle bridge is a major upgrade as far as intonation goes.

Two Saddle bridges are a pain to intonate. It'll work if you don't plan on going above the 7th fret, but just something to think about. Swapping the bridge wouldn't be too difficult. Just get yourself some toothpicks (or hardwood dowels), wood glue, a good square and a drill. The replacement bridge above is a 5-hole mounting pattern, use the back-middle screw hole on the old bridge as a guide and go from there.

Its possible that the outside holes will line up as well.

I think this is the way i'm going to go, shouldn't i punch the hole and then tap it and then screw it in by hand? Don't know who I heard it from, but not to drill directly into the body etc.
I'll practice on some junk epiphone body i have.

Would you guys agree to order that specific one?

Onward to the next point,
So I suppose I found the culprit to why one pickup didn't work..
Not an expert on what goes where, but I do know how to solder. I've fixed some cut wires, and input jacks. But the wiring looks missing altogether.

Just drill a pilot hole, slightly smaller than the screw threads, and lubricate the threads with some bar soap or paste wax when threading them in. I always use a hand drill when threading in bridge and neck screws. It is faster and lowers the chance of stripping out the head of the screw.

It looks like they have the signal wire connected to the wiper and the volume pot is taking the signal to ground instead of the signal going through the pot. I don't see why this wouldn't work, but it might induce noise. The pickups are selected by the switch.

Here's another angle.

And honestly. I have no idea what that means.
HAhahaha,

Order new pots, and re wire it all?
Same wiring?
what about the missing link. hah.
On previous projects I've just searched up the wiring diagram, seeing as i'm still not sure what this even is I don't know what diagram to search up.
