Interesting thread. I'm no rockstar but my bass collection is deffo a boutique one. I'm a huge fan of Alembic basses. Here are some which I play. Now gigs are getting back up running they will all be played in front of audiences which is nice. Here's a photo of the ones on my wall, hope it's...
Evening fellow groovers. Who here digs James Jamerson? That's probably a silly question. I've spent a while learning Darling Dear by Jackson 5. Would love any feedback you have! Cheers, hope you're all alright!
Alright so I haven't managed to gig it yet...however, here I am (just about to play) with my new bass. Alembic Explorer 8 String Spyder bass. It's a beast, love it!
Hey everybody!
I'm approaching madness in this whole lockdown thing so I made I youtube vid...some cool effects! Hope you like it!
I got an Aeros Loop Studio from Singular Sound so I decided to have a play with it!
Thanks, have a great day wherever you are in the world!
I completely agree! They are so incredible and are always a head turner! It's also nice to play basses that make you work but also make it easy too! Not sure how to explain! They take some effort to work out and get the tones that you like but they are so damn 'easy' to play with them having...
For those interested in Alembics and how they sound, I've made a demo! My strings also cost me £6.
Cheers,
George
p.s. It's great see all these videos of people grooving!
Hey everybody,
For those interested, I've just put two new demos on my youtube! I'm just talking about my basses and showing all the tonal possibilities, I hope you enjoy.
Cheers, have a great week!

Hope you like the photo!
Hey everybody,
I've just transcribed a pretty cool solo, if you could check it out that would be great! Also, does anybody have solo suggestions that are good to transcribe, need to improve general phrasing and vocab'.
thank you,
Hey PaulFerro,
It's an NS Design Stick, a hybrid model of the Chapman Stick (which it still is)! It's all in 4th's, low B up to a high A#, 4 bass strings and 4 guitar strings. They are stereo and can have 10 or 12 strings too. Even MIDI, if you dare...!
It was a custom order but not by me, I...
Both the SC and Balance K models are wonderful! The SC sometimes does have a tendency to neck dive so you may have to alter the playing position when wearing it.
The Balance K bass, well, balances, wherever it's positioned!
Both basses feel great under the fingers and obviously sound awesome...
Hey guys,
It's always a nervous wait when you're waiting for a bass to be delivered but hey, look what arrived in one piece. Apparently there are zero recordings of this bass...interesting.
Any thoughts? :)
Any particular suggestions on some tunes? I'm always up for learning new stuff...
Hey Talkbassers,
If anybody has any suggestions for some upright bass songs that span from easy to intermediate, please do reply to this post. That would be extremely useful to me.
Don't really mind on the genre be it Jazz to world to pop or anything. Old Jazz recordings are sometimes...

Hi everybody,
My band, CHARLYN, have just come back from a great successful tour over in Switzerland, we released our EP over there and it was pretty incredible. It was also amazing for me because I was able to take and performing with my Alembic Series 1, 1981 Vintage!
Anyway, here it is...
It was a masterclass at my uni, she came in to talk to us! Q&A basically! I got an email beforehand asking if I wanted to play! I jumped at the chance! Uni put the band together, we had a few rehearsals and then we played in the masterclass! That's it really!
Yeah, she's over here in London performing her new album! She's still got it! Well it's not everyday you get to perform with somebody like her. The Alembic sounded great as always, just a shame phones can't really get that across haha!
Hi everybody, so yesterday I had an amazing opportunity of playing alongside Ronnie Spector from The Ronettes.
Shame I only have the instagram footage for now but here you go!
I'm playing just behind the keyboard player with my Alembic Series 2 Buckeye Burl. Obviously the sound quality isn't...
Couldn't really choose between the pair...both are exceptional, in different ways of course.

I thought nothing would really touch my Jazz or my Warwick 5 Thumb fretless. But these...these are just on another level...
Nice to see a Warwick club on here. Here's my 5 String Fretless Thumb Bass. Absolute beauty, literally shakes the room some how because it's so subby.
Cheers!
