    Soundchecks all that worthwhile???

I'm talking the bar gigs most of us do, not arena shows!! It seems to me that sound checks nowadays have become so ingrained as part of the process that they barely serve a purpose anymore?. Case in point, I played as a sub with a trib band where the check lasted 1.5 hours, minus mic checks!. I...

Ok, long story short...a "label" based here in the UK, which shall remain nameless, had me come down for an audition and have decided they want to "take me on and develop me as an artist". (The audition was as a singer/songwriter... I write all my stuff on guitar, plus I get to be my own...

    Rates question....

Ok, I know this question has been posted many times before, but as situations differ between artists/managers/whatever and i'm pretty clueless i'm gonna ask again anyway!:hiding: I just landed a paid gig backing a singer/songwriter, who's asked me what my rates are, for rehearsal, travel and...

    Need some legal advice

I just left a band where I wrote 80% of the material, and have told the guys out of courtesy that everything I have written I will be taking with me. My problem is that we did release an album through an indie label, and in my naiviety I signed a publishing contract where everything was split 5...

    What do I do?

Hey everyone, Right i'll keep this short and sweet....do I stay with a band that i'm growing more and more unhappy with stylistically but has a deal and is starting to get national recognition, or do I walk away and risk missing out on any success that may come when the material is 70% mine...

Band opinion clashes - Songwriting and what matters

Just wanted some of your guys thoughts on this kinda thing and how you deal with these situations. So i'm at rehearsal last night and we start work on a new, keys lead heavy-ballad kinda song (think "The Unforgiven" by Metallica), the kinda song that's really carried by the vocal melody and...

So I finally got a set of flats...

...and correct me if im wrong, (and I realise i'm putting myself in he firing line here) but they just sounded like dead rounds???. Basically i've never played anything but roto 66's and love the sound of a brand new set on my MIM P, but hearing so many people rave about the classic...

    Fender Duff Mckagan Sig...

...anyone else played/have this bass? I got it and personally I love it, has a real agressive tone to it, even played clean. I find it really cuts through the mix both live and recorded and really has its own voice compared to a lot of other basses, kinda like an "angry" aerodyne jazz but with...
