Iv taken lessons for over a yr now and iv learned some theory. My question is do I really need to learn all the scales or should I just learn to play the songs I want to play..which happens to be the reason that I want to play bass in the first place

On the bass lesson coarse I'm doing introduced picks as part of the lesson. I was wondering if their was a particular size of picks that I should use? I bought 5 picks from sizes 1.0 to 2.0

Am I the only one that think tabs would be 1000% easier if the E was on top line instead of bottom. Since my E string is on top on my bass only seems logical that it would be the same on a tab aswell.
