I'm looking for songs that are easy to play for someone new to the bass. Songs that are not only easy but are also fun to play. The type of music isn't that important. If you think you have a song in mind please leave a comment.

Not sure what genres you like. ZZ Top has some fun, but easy songs. You could also try some Rolling Stones or U2. They often have easier bass parts. If you need help with Stones songs PM me, I have prettty much all their songs tabbed out from when I was trying to get a Stones band thing going. One fun easy one I have been jamming to lately is Season of the Witch by Donovan. Easy and fun.
I mostly like country and rock n roll. Alabama to ZZ top. I just learned the song billie jean even tho I never really cared for M.J. the song is fun to play tho. I guess I don't really care what type of music it is as long as its fun to play. And infact I think I'm having fun playing any song really.
Pearl Jam's "In Hiding" is pretty fun and simple. There's also plenty of room to mess around with the line and the rhythm at different parts.

Here are a few songs that I found to be easy to learn. Time marches on. Thousand miles from nowhere. Ooh poo pah doo by steve miller. Love song by cure, once you get the fingering down, billie jean. Wicked game. Just incase there are other noobs like me looking to learn a few songs...btw I'm looking for the tabs for bad bad leroy brown if anyone has or knows them.

I play a bunch of crazy stuff, I know almost the entire Rush catalog, and Can churn out stuff like YYZ with almost perfect precision, and I love to just play that fast complex stuff, but I played this song at a concert a couple weeks ago... It is SO fun. See, the technicality and challenge aren't really all that important to the Funness of a song. It's how much you like the song. Sure, it's fun to play something Challenging, but it's not really any fun if you don't like the song. And the other way, if you really dig a song, it doesn't matter if it's just ONE NOTE (Trampled Under Foot - Led Zeppelin) or just quarter note roots (Welcome to the Machine - Pink Floyd), if you love the song, it will be fun to play, because you are helping to create the music. If you're just playing for the Bass work, you're doing it wrong.

Maybe not super-easy, but not super hard either, and definitely fun in my book - Pump It Up by Elvis Costello.
Learn some bob marley and the wailers tunes. Nice easy lines fretting hand wise and great for developing a sense of rhythm too. Try natural mystic, them belly full, three little birds.
