Ampeg PF 800 vs Fender Rumble v3 500

I'm wondering what people's opinion on this are. I'm trying to decide between a fender rumble v3 500 w/ the 2x10 extension cab, or the PF 800 with a single 2x10. They're both pretty light/movable, though the fender in two pieces would be a bit more than the ampeg. Traditionally, the ampeg...

    Cleaning an Unfinished Maple Neck

EDIT: I'm concered about the *Fretboard* not the neck itself. I've got a somewhat rare configuration of the Brice HXB 405 (rondo music brand) and it's got an unfinished maple neck. Yes, I'm positive there's no finish. Damn thing gets full of finger gunk fast. I'm afraid to use any sort of...

    Fender Rumble v3 500 vs Hartke HD500

I've been doing some searching and its come down to the two listed above. The rumble 500 and the hartke hd500. They both get outstanding reviews, and they're both what I'm looking for. Powerful, lightweight, great tone, and gig worthy. They're identical in price. They both peak at 500w, though...

Ampeg SVT MicroVR Bass Amplifier Half Stack 2x10 Inch 200 Watts

I've been looking at this amp for some time now, it seems like a cool little rig. I'm curious if anyone has played around with it, only a few reviews comment on its volume capabilities and they seem to be mixed. Anyone have experience playing this with a live drummer w/o going DI? I can get...

Is Simple The Way To Go?

I've always had the absolute best luck with a minimalist setup. Bass > sansamp > tuner > amp. That's it. So long as you're not pushing tons of effects, there's literally no point in getting more complicated than this. At least that's what I've found. The simpler, the better. Thoughts?

    Pickup Screech - Active Pups

So I've got a brice hxb 405, a decent bass. It has an active pickup setup with an onboard eq. After switching the battery one day, I plugged the bass in and the active setting just came out with a LOUD screech. It's continuous and monotone...I opened up the back and it appears there's no wire...

    Carvin R600

Have a really great deal on picking up a carvin r600 for only $100, in good working condition. A good friend of mine just wants to get rid of it, and I'm in desperate need. My only concern is the impedance of the amp, for whatever reason carvin has a lot of options on almost all their amps. I...
