I'd just play in standard, or if they use the open c alot I'd tune the B up a half step or capo the first fret.

A five string isn't really a subsitute for drop tuning. There's plenty of songs in drop D which would physically impossible on a 5 string in standard tuning.

I find the best hight is to have the bass at the same angle/hight as when you are sitting down. Sit down with your strap on, and when you stand up the bass shouldn't move it all.

Fair enough. I think it's that typical 3nps tapping that's consists mostly of pull-offs that makes tapping unmusical. I find that an 8 finger, chapman like approach can be used well when interpreting Bach, some of his piano pieces transcribe very well. I see what you meant though.

Why? Tapping is a valid technique, and there's some stuff which would be almost impossible without it.

For me raking comes naturally, and in some ways I wish it didn't, it really inhibits my 3 finger technique. But for some stuff it's pretty much necessary, like the arpeggios from Paganini's 24th caprice, or some off your more technical, proggy stuff.
