    Consider learning where a few key notes are located. If you play rock/blues learn where every E A G C# and D are. Then the other notes will pop out to you when you need them. Start with just one like G or E

    Yes. But more useful is learning intervals and movable chord pattern. Also learn the trick to walking bass lines.

    What is the best entry level bass you have played

    I bought an off brand P bass copy in Taipei for about $100 US - ever heard of A-Tone. It’s a great instrument. I leave it in Taiwan and just play it in my hotelwhen I travel there on business. It did come to the USA once and I used it on a couple gigs.

    My G3 lost it's neck (a convoluted story) and now has a schecter replacement. The body was black at birth - but I wanted a new look and the finish was trashed so I had it painted white.
