That's what I did and it went pretty well. The fretwork on the CV Jazz though is really nice and it's kind of a shame though to defret it.

Here's my CV Jazz, defretted and with a black pickguard (sorry guys, but I hate tort). I also went with Chromes on it. Everything else is stock. For the PG, I bought a cheap one off Ebay, which fit really well. Some of the holes were a few mm off, but I could still fit the screws in.
