Nah, I just want to use it because I have it and it empty. I already have 5 Marshall 1960 slant and straight guitar cabs. I figured that maybe I could use this empty one for bass. I wouldn't mind a smaller 2x12 but I really don't know where to start. Just a simple 2x12, no tweeters or stuff...

I just want that ballpark type of tone. Not trying to reproduce it. I just like that the bottom end is never boomy and still nice and rich in the mids where even the G string sounds thick.

The EVs are $200.00 a pop + taxes and possibly shipping. That's close to $1'000 for a loaded cab. My budget is much lower than that at this point. I'd be happy if I could spend under $500.00

Clammy - do you think that using a slant 1960a cab is a good idea or should I just get a "real" bass cab? The eminence range does look very interesting and I'll be taking a closer look at them. The reason why I want to use the marshall 4x12 is that its a sealed cab.

Hehehe. Yeah, I'm surprised to see that the approach is so scientific. Years ago, I would have ben totally into that but now, I know that its not all about specs. What I'm looking for is people that have experience with this kind of setup. So I have one suggestion for Eminence Beta 12s but...

Its a 4x12 1960a cabinet all birch plywood cab. There's no porting or whatsoever. Its completely sealed.

Ummmm... that's exactly what I'm trying to do. What speakers will work in that cab and give me the general tone I'm looking for.

Yes, I understand that, but speakers can make or break the sound. So far no suggestions?

I have an empty 4x12 Marshall cab that I'll be using to build up a bass cab. I'm looking at different options for speakers, notably the EVM12L but those things are way too heavy and pricey for me. Something Neo and high sensitivity would be ideal. The Celestion BN12-300S seems like a nice...

    EMG BTC question

The only difference with a passive pickup is that you don't connect the battery to the pickups. Everything else stays the same. The BTC control is active do you'll still need a battery to power that.

    Ibanez Saber 1200 Electronics

After further examination of the circuit, the knob that doesn't seem to be functioning is the bass boost/cut button. The balancer works fine. The bass pot is working as it should but is very rough, as is the treble and vol pot. There's a dual opamp driving the treble and bass controls. I...

    Ibanez Saber 1200 Electronics

I just recently acquired an Ibanez Saber SB1200. I've cleaned it up, fixed the neck (it had a strong front bow that had to be corrected with the neck taken off the body), crowned and polished the frets and it actually plays nice. Its my first bass in a long time... since I made the mistake of...
