Anyone Plays an Ultra II Precision or Other High-End PJs?

Thought I’d share my experience as an occasional doubler on electric bass, primarily a full-time orchestral bassist. For years I used my trusty and revered ‘64 JB (had since HS jazz band, 1975) when called upon to double. Over time, I got frustrated with having to dig so hard for meaty sound...

    Roscoe Beck Forum?

Update: I recently dressed the frets and rolled the fingerboard edges, which helps tremendously with minimizing the feel of the neck width. Used it for a gospel gig, it is AWESOME!!!

NBD: it arrived and it’s awesome! [Short video included]

Congrats, beautiful bass! I satisfied the urge by doing this semi-hollow kit.

    Roscoe Beck Forum?

Hello Roscoe lovers, I’ve joined the club and loving my 1996 V - Candy Apple Red! Curiously, the previous owner has switched around the neck mini-toggle setup to (forward) split-front pup/(middle) HB (in parallel, sounds like)/ (rear) split-bridge side. Because it all works great, think I’ll...

Markbass Mini CMD 121P 1x12 Bass Combo Amp

I had similar experience trying the Radial, using Realist Lifeline on upright 121 P combo. Packed it right back up after a minute or so trying it.

First BG build - lovin it!

Thanks, the body seemed too nice to bury in opaque color.

Thanks, Eaglemoon! Just switched out the defective volume 250K pot for a spare 500K one, can’t get the bass out of my son’s hands! That’s actually the original DiMarzio recommendation.

Probably true regarding end sound, considering the pickups & amp.

Lol, that’s from Jimi Hasket off Reverb! Comes unbeveled, a bit pricey, but nice!

We think alike. Even my wife likes it. Can hardly pull it out my son’s hands.

I expected some to say that! I like the ebony understated look. Since the pick guard has pre-drilled thumb stop holes, I’m going to make an ebony thumb stop to match the knobs, even though it won’t be used. I might first check to be sure it won’t impede slap playing.

The simple answer is everything matters! Violins are typically spruce tops, maple back/ribs/neck. Every piece of every type of wood has its own density and flexibility and sound. Cut matters, particularly with spruce, particularly in violin family instruments. But it all works together to form a...

First BG build - lovin it!

Just took a break from violin making (well, currently several violas!) to put together this pb: Neck and Schaller bridge/tuners from 1990, vintage late ‘70s DiMarzios (unused, still with original warranty sheet, donated by friend), 250K CTS pots, unfinished body from Guitar Mill, oil/poly...

Put a High-mass bridge on my bass and took it off, immediately.

I’m doing my first build, making use of fretless P neck and high mass Schaller no. 469 bridgeI bought in the early 90’s. Should I expect to be disappointed???

Put a High-mass bridge on my bass and took it off, immediately.

My gut says a high bridge is more successful in a through neck construction.
