HÖFNER 500/7 VERYTHIN CLUB!

I know this is a zombie thread but why start another?

The current issue Fender Metro gigbag is too small for the Verythin.

I’ve read elsewhere that the case that’s supposed to be made for them doesn’t fit very well either.

Does anyone know of a good option?

So the last five years has seen me playing Jack Casady and Thunderbird basses, so I sold off my Hofners a couple years ago (to pay some bills and lack of use)
The pandemic threw a monkey wrench into all my plans (as it did for the entire world), and I currently find myself running sound for a couple local Chicago suburban bands and not playing. I haven’t had a bass in my hands since May, and I’m getting the itch to get back to the Hofner…
Purchased a new sunburst Hofner 500/7 Verythin from an online dealer in the UK, and hopefully she’ll arrive soon.
Stay tuned…

What a looker!
I'm curious What do you think of the Höfner compared to your Jack C.?

Great question.

It's been several years since I've played a Höffy, and a short scale bass. I only had time today to unbox it and give it a quick inspection for damage, tune it up, and test to make sure everything worked. I forgot how lightweight these are...and I've always found the Verythin to be more comfortable to me vs. the iconic 500/1 Violin Bass. I find that the width and extra weight on the lower portion of the Verythin makes it better balanced and more comfortable for me to play. I've always been a sucker for double cutaways (335's etc), so these look great to me!

Great! What do you think of the sound compared with your Jack? From what I heard the Jack C. is more versatile

It's my #1 bass now that I put some TI Jazz Flats on and upgraded the pots (Chinese) which were scratchy. The pups are German, so no worries there, and the fit and finish is gorgeous! I get compliments on it every gig without fail...

8th Street Music (8thstreet.com) had 'em on sale for $699 last month, and I couldnt pass that up.

I'd like to find one of the earlier ones with fingerboard dots as opposed to the fingerboard block inlays.
