EBMM Sterling body and neck with two jazz pickups

Does anyone have trouble with the 'Hard to Handle' bassline or is it just me. Finding that string skip/rake in the verse to be a bit of a challenge,

I love them and own 2 but I wish they could do the Jazz tone or close to it.

Does anyone else who owns two find they sound very different? The Finish on one has been taken off by the previous owner and I'm not sure what else has been played around with. The black one definitely has a higher output and more clarity.

Can someone tell me how they are cueing the chorus in this song? I have have seen it played live and no one is using charts and they can't all be counting. The bars before the chorus are very random. In counting the bass riff rotations, sometimes its 6, sometimes 5, sometimes 7 etc...

Great song! I play this with my band. I don't play the open A. I just do the quick shift for the fill. Who knows what happened in the studio. Like others have said, the issue for me is where to place the fills as they seem quite random. I try to match them as close as possible but it's hard...

I know what you mean. This is why I play the USA Sterlings. The bridge is right on the edge and they have a nice thin neck and small body.

The 24 Frets is more a reach thing. I have owned Spectors and Warwicks and while I love their tone the extra length on the neck feels a little more awkward. It's something only a short stocky guy might understand.

Thanks Everyone for the feedback. Both of these basses are USA MM Sterlings so you would think they would have the same output but they don't. At rehearsal last night I turned bass, mid and treble off for the loud one and that seemed to bring them much closer. Hopefully that should suffice.
