Sadly, you can correctly argue that B > A, C > B, D > C, E > D, and then someone shows up and proves A > E, and the whole thing goes around again, with no stopping. I think a better choice is to stop comparing, and just list great lines.
I found the 40 too small in my house by myself. YMMV of course. Then after deciding to get a bigger Rumble, I did indeed talk myself into the 800. I love the 800, but if I were to do it again, I'd probably get the 200 over the 100--15 inch goodness, and can add a cab if feeling frisky.
Edit...
You can get almost any hardware at McMaster-Carr (mcmaster.com). The prices are high, but it’s available. Sometimes that’s ok.
If you are replacing the intonation screws and not the saddle height grub screws, consider socket hex head rather than Phillips. Much better control.
Dunno if these are new or not, but I haven't seen them before. Don't know anything about them, but AllParts sent me an email that looked pretty nice. Caveat Emptor!
AllParts Pickups Look for the Razor logo. They seem to have "Full Moon" and "Blood Moon" flavors of P, J, and 51P pickups.
Just on looks—usually I’m not too hot for gold paint. This one looks nice though with the maple board.
I like player II P necks fine. This bass I’d probably replace pickup (need to hear it first) and add high mass bridge.
Yeah, seems to be going OT — maybe a “what to put in front of my Rumble” thread over there. I don’t think the Rumble is really all that different from other amps in this regard. Yes at all 12s there’s a Rumble-specific color to the tone, but if the knobs are set appropriately or the FX return...
I’ve found that I am never happy with multi-effects or complicated equipment. There’s always a part of me saying “tweak it a bit more, it’ll sound even better”. So because of that, I now try to stay with “this does this thing” equipment. Helps me focus on playing instead. Ok, that said…
HX...
Yeah, I was gonna say people buy pedals specifically to get that sound.
Two things I thought were interesting: 1) this cab worked fine for a while before the issue--so might happen to others. I'm sure it's a rare occurrence, but good on OP he had a backup. 2) OP kinda complains about QC, but...
On the combo side, look to the Rumble 800 before any of the other Rumbles. It’s the only one with neo speakers, making it much lighter than most other combos. It can also drive 2x8 ohm cabs or a 4 ohm cab.
Cab-wise, Mesa and Barefaced have definitely moved to the front rank. There’s other...
Osmo does penetrate, it’s not just a surface treatment. What it doesn’t really do is build up on the surface, as previously noted. There’s also Osmo 1011 which is an extra thin mix. It’s formulated for dense or oily woods. I’d use it on rosewood, wenge, and probably padauk all as a first coat.
I dunno if anyone around here wants a Tele, but Aaron at Warmoth posted a video on YT today showing their limited (only 5!) rosewood Tele bodies. Besides that they are beautiful and worth peeking at, part of the video shows them getting built in the Warmoth factory as a pancake chambered body...
For a smoother top coat, Osmo sells a wax that’s compatible with their Polyx.
I’ve used the clear 3011 finish with great results on roasted alder and ash. On roasted wood it darkens the wood quite a bit.
I also tried their tinted product on unroasted ash. It came out very nice. The product...
WooHoo, SW shipped mine.
I see they’re still saying it won’t ship until the 24th if you order today. I guess that means they’re selling well. Congrats on that!
Fretboard dye is not common, but not unknown. Montypresso is a well known brand.
So the question is: was it lighter and your usage darkened it, or did you wear off some prior dye? To me, looks like dye. My suggestion is to deep clean as @tindrum recommends, and if it gets lighter, scrub off...
Is it wrong that I want to know more?
Did he say anything other than "You're early" in the hallway? Or in the lot? Were you left sitting there thinking he'd return?
Edit: I play Wicked Game as a warm up exercise often.
By gain, you just mean boosted volume, not overdrive stages?
Yet again, I am recommending the EHX Triparallel. You can add some gain either before or after each FX loop. Put it in the mode where each loop can be turned on independently, put a short patch across the loop in/out and you can...
