0.135 B-string?

Does anyone other than D'Addario make a 0.135" diameter roundwound B-string? (Either steel or nickel.)

The winding length is from the Ball to the Silk (purple). This is from the Stainless Steel link on in our String section on the website.

Lots of people do. The standard MTD set comes with one, and clearly Ken offers them.

JustStrings.com sells single strings from several manufacturers.

I have used a .145 Ken Smith steel string for a low A for a while (major low end from this string).
They also sell .135 (as well as .140 and other sizes)

I think you can also get a single .135 low B at JustStrings from LaBella, Rotosound, DR and Dean Markley.

I tune one of my 5 string basses down a whole step so instead of a low B, I have a low A.

Ah, that's interesting. The reason I was asking about the .135 in the first place is that the B on my 34" 5 string feels a little floppy. I just found a song where I might have to drop the 5th string down to A, though, so I'm wondering if I might have to go to an even heavier gauge.

Or just get a 35" 5 string.

Yes, but I tried it at B as well. It was more acceptable at B, but I like a looser feel on roundwounds, so I may be a bit biased.

How thick would you have to go for a low G? I have a faux 36" so I'm not too woried about floppiness.
