So I did some digging but so many of the threads are older.. I generally will use the venue backline if available, but there are a few places we play that don't offer such a convenience for the aging/lazy musician who lives on the 3rd floor and hates lugging stuff at 5pm let alone 4am. LOL

These are not large rooms, in fact a 2 x 10 does quite nicely.. I have a vintage Acoustic 270 that I love, but it is 1) Big and 2) heavy. Did I mention big and heavy? Yeah, I am the guy who gets rid of his 70's Ampeg SVT black line.. now THAT was heavy.. But I digress.

So I picked up an Ashdown Mag300 for $150. Not too big, not too heavy, and should be a nice fit with my 2 x 10's.. and I assume I got a really good deal.

Since the older threads are from 2006 give or take, is the general feeling on these heads the same? Seems like I got a solid deal, but I always like to run stuff by you fine folks. The older threads were all in all favorable.

Thanks in advance as always!

I used a mag 300 for a few years, and liked it for the most part. It was kind of dark & gritty which was cool for dirty and heavy stuff. Wasn't as clean and tight as I like for funky slapping stuff. so I guess it's all in what you are looking for. A BBE sonic max really brought it to life too. the only issue I had was that the speaker jacks are fused (internal). the pre amp still worked , not a big deal.

Thanks to you both for the insight - I picked it up last night (in a snowstorm haha) and it is in impeccable shape - the previous owner really treated it well.. I tend to treat my things the same way to a fault. LOL

I did see good reviews for the most part, with the few mentions of reliability as 1kinal eluded to.. I can only hope that 1) those were experienced and addressed by the previous owner :) or 2) it'll always be the other guy's Ashdown. :D
