The Geddy is a good bass, I had one for a while, but the 06 4003 is a great bass, one you'll keep forever. I voted do it.
I have been looking for a decent ric for a few years.

If it's a 4001 the lack of bottom the seller complains about might just be a function of the cap that cuts some lows and helps give it that signature 'vintage Ric' tone. You can bypass it in a few seconds, a completely reversible mod.
I wouldn't get rid of a favorite or particularly excellent Jazz, but you are taking zero risk at that price, and can flip it and even make a buck if it doesn't become a keeper.

im thinkin he might of said it was a 4003 because of the stereo jack. does that sound about right? i know he said it has white bindin.
Speaking of Geddy and the Ric...I saw Rush last Saturday night and when he busted out the Ric for A Passage to Bangkok, it sounded awesome! I guess it always has live when he used it in years past, but I found that I liked the tone he got from the Ric more than his Jazz. I have a Geddy Jazz and I love the tone I get, but it really got me thinking...hmmm....
well i met with the fella today and it was everything he said it was. this ric was just the way it came from the factory. it is a 4003. now i gotta find a new owner for my geddy. the best thing was he said it was mine and he would wait. i think he liked the fact i asked for a cleanin cloth after i was done playin it. he said it looks like it was goin to a good home and i would take good care of it. this was the first time i felt happy since to loss of my beagle.
