08 Fender American Standard P bass saddles

So I have one of the new american series basses that come with the little grooves on the saddles at the bridge with the tapered E string. I believe these also come on all the deluxe versions as well. My problem is I dont want to always use tapered strings because of the lack of availability. I have a set of daddario chromes on it right now and I hate how the E string doesn't fit in the groove and sits higher. I guess what I'm getting at is, does anyone else have this problem and what did you do? Just replace the saddles?

oh that's pretty useful but, I was planning on keeping flats on it. Probably should of made that clear. I like low tension strings so I've been planning on getting some thomastiks on there. In other words I kinda want to get away from the tapered strings unless they do help the sustain more than I realize. Maybe I could just replace the E strings saddle.

I've gotten rid of all those tapered stings on my 08-09 Fenders. Normal strings will sit securely on those saddles with absolutely no problems. Just lower the saddle and you are good to go.:bassist:

I use Chromes and don't have a problem with the E string sitting high, it is fine.

I have the same issue. I have an 08 Jazz V with Chromes. Man that big ol' B string sits up high. The E string is up high as well. It is fine with A-G. I am just about bottomed out on the saddle heights and the neck bow is a flat as possible. I don't think I need or want ultra low action on B, but your right. The B and E string saddles would be nice if they had a deeper groove.
