I want to put an old set of used Corelli (3/4)370's in my1/2 bass gig bag as a spare emerg set. They are the mediums, which to me are really light. Never have cut down a set of 3/4 before. Can I do this safely?

Double Bass 1/2 bass strings

Probably okay as a "spare emergency" set - something to get you through a gig if a string fails.
However, they will seem even lighter as scale length decreases.

AG, not sure how the math /physics works in that manner. Help me out one time. I viewed a video of a guy getting powerful volume and tone from a Romanian 1/2 er, with "old used Spirocores". I couldnt find 1/2 length so assumed they were a set of downsized 3/4, snipped off a bit. If I trimmed a standard gague set of old RedLabels, would they be looser on my 1/2 thaN MY 3/4? (I dont mind sacraficing those)
